Canucks wouldn't, no room for him even if they had the cap space. I dont think he's better then Bieksa, Hamhuis, Edler, Garrison. I think id rather have Tanev and Corrado over him aswell, higher panic threshold. He's be a #7 on my team, gets the Keith Ballard treatment. Anyone have that video of Jarko Ruutu tripping up Phaneuf after he drops his gloves? - gunner2233

The Avs defense is terrible. Maybe Gagner and Smid to Colorado for Matt Duchene? Or are Duchene and Nugent-Hopkins too much alike? - Maxbone

To all the Oilers fans who will troll Phaneuf:
Oilers "top" (don't want to call him that because they don't really have one) defenseman last year statistically:
Justin Schultz 8-19-27 and a -17.
Dion Phaneuf 9-19-28 and a -4.
This is not to mention he would play against the top line every night, and he played for about half the year with two pathetic defenseman in Holzer and Kostka.
And no we don't want Hemsky. Or Smid and some garbage.

I think Pha9 is a solid addition to any blue line.
No though. I really just hate his stupid face. |

You're comparing a guy with 9 NHL seasons under his belt to a rookie? and where did you get the idea that Schultz was our top dman? |

So you are saying he is better than a rookie defenceman. |

Bill Watters is so full of hate for Phaneuf, he can't be taken seriously as a "Source". Everytime he discussed Dion on his radio show, he'd swear and they'd have to bleep him. He underrates Dion laughably. There's no playoffs with him next season. He's a legit #1 D-Man.
Edmonton desperately needs a Dion Phaneuf to get better on the backend. |

Another 5 to go with the 5 we got from TB after picking up Stamkos.
TB just used their compliance on Kadri so we picked him back up. |

He would make us better for sure but no way I'm giving up any of our top 6 forwards, Klefbom, Nurse, or a 1st rounder. Hell no. They'd be much better used towards a better top pairing defender than Dion.
I would actually consider using Gagner but the 1 year of Phaneuf lowers his value unless you get him resigned immediately after. But that would leave a big hole in the middle for us unless we go out and get Grabovski. |

Honestly, Edmonton needs to give up the first and some futures to get better now. The building stage has lasted long enough. |

Get rid of Phaneuf and Toronto then needs two number 1 dmen. It's already going to be tough to make the playoffs. Remove him without finding a decent replacement and they are likely screwed. |

Yeah, I don't understand for the life of me this attitude that the Leafs should just dump Phaneuf. The guy plays so many minutes. You need a replacement immediately to be able to make the playoffs. And no, no one on the Leafs currently can take his minutes. |

If not him who? Nick Schultz? Jeff Petry? Smid?
I'm sorry but that's a pretty embarrassing list. And I based it on the fact he led your Defense in points and played over 21 minutes a game for the oilers. |

True, but in my opinion it's not worth it for Phaneuf. You just hear too much about Phaneuf and locker room problems. Is it true? Maybe, maybe not. But I have to wonder why Phaneuf is on the block on his second team. |
